I was comfortable using this item as it is food safe in the event it does come in contact with the product I am slicing. It has kept my slicer lubricated to keep it working for years to come. If you have a slicer, I would recommend this product.

Although I haven`t used this item yet it is exactly the same as the greese/lube, on my meat slicer when I disassembled the slicer to first clean it. Human friendly and made of safe materials. I expect it to work fine as does the lube already on the gears on my slicer. It made is for my brand of machine.

This blade is a must have if you plan on slicing meat with the Chefs Choice 610. The slicer only includes a serrated blade which is great for bread and veggies but not the best for thin slices of meat. With this blade I am able to use the thinnest setting on the slicer to produce thin, even, deli quality style cuts.

UPDATE: I have had this blade and the 610 since 2008 and both are still working like brand new. This is probably one of the best purchases I have ever made for my kitchen!

This blade was totally worth the extra money, even though I wish it had been included with the food slicer. Still, the price for both was very reasonable.
I put this blade on and have thin shaved ham, Arby's like roast beef, deli chicken and turkey breasts that I have roasted myself. This blade is great for cheese too. The serrated edge works better for bread, and I like it better on partially frozen raw meat I'm slicing for like jerky, not sure why, but this one seems to do better on already cooked meat.
