5.0 out of 5 stars I use this for one thing and one thing only, May 30, 2008

This thing rocks for shredding cheese! My family doesn't like the pre-shredded stuff, and loves to just grab handfuls of freshly shredded cheddar cheese to munch on. However, normally shredding cheese involved grating your knuckles in the process, and a lot of arm muscle. Enter, the Salad Shooter!

I purchased my Salad Shooter last November. I buy 2 lb bricks of Tillamook cheese, and cut them into 5 pieces so they'll fit into the chute. This is the most time consuming part of shredding cheese for me now, and it doesn't take that long! Then, I shred the cut sections of cheese. Yes, the Salad Shooter is loud, but it only takes me seconds to shred 2 pounds of cheese. So, I don't mind the noise.

Clean up is easy. A quick rinse to get the bigger bits of stuck cheese off (not sure if this is even necessary, but I do it anyway), and then everything goes in the dishwasher, except for the motor bit, and that only rarely needs a quick wipe with a paper towel. I... Read more

I had a small version of salad shooter, it was great, used it for so many years, but now the blade was dull, and I kind have to push the veggy into the machine to be cut them. I decided the next salad shooter I buy should be slightly larger. So I bought this salad shooter professional series, which is great, having some features that are so important in a kitchen where cooking takes place almost every day: multiple cones to change, large feeding place for the veggy, fast, light, eassy to clean including in the dishwasher, still small enough to store in small spaces, efortless to cut and shread your veggy, no need for knife and cutting board.

What I like the most about this product is the fact that when I put veggy in it to be cut, shread..., the machine almost vaccum them in to be cut, so I do not have to push it in, probable du to sharp blades an fast speed of rotation of the blades. This way your work is done in no time.

In my oppinion it is a tool you must have... Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice size shredder, March 15, 2006
This review is from: Presto 02970 Professional SaladShooter Electric Slicer/Shredder, White (Kitchen)
I have really enjoyed using my saladshooter, it is exactly what I needed, it is big enough to handle just about every veggie that we eat. The only reason I did not give it a 5 star rating was that it did not come with a smaller shredder attachment. It comes with the large shredder, the large slicer and a medium slicer, which are all nice, but not the smaller shredder. But for the money it is just perfect. I use it almost every day.

4.0 out of 5 stars Takes some time but it does work, August 2, 2011
This review is from: Cricut Mini Cake, Red (Misc.)
The first day I got this machine I was rather frustrated. My fondant either tore or just got dragged around by the needle. I searched online for tips and have to say YES freezing the fondant has worked best for me.

This is what has worked best:

Grease the mat!!! I run shortening or butter over it then smooth it out with my fingers until it is a very thin coat.
Then you have to roll the fondant out out until it is very thin (you can start to see the lines of the mat through the fondant - practice with white first so you get a feel for how thin it has to be). I cover the entire mat then trim off all the edges (within the white area of the mat!) using a fondant cutter or a pizza slicer.

I then freeze that entire mat+ fondant for 20 or 30 minutes depends on how hot the day is and how gooey or soft my fondant was.

Once that is pretty hard but not rock solid I put it in the machine and it works! Clean lines.I
I have to admit rolling it... Read more

2.0 out of 5 stars Great Idea, Poor Performance, July 2, 2011
This review is from: Cricut Mini Cake, Red (Misc.)
I REALLY wanted to like this. I have a small cupcake business on the side and thought the Cricut designs would give my customers more lower cost decorative options. I specifically bought the machine to use the Best of Pixar cartridge. I was extremely disappointed when I used that specific cartridge. Let me first say the first use with the cake basics that came with mine was fine. I rolled out the fondant onto the sheet and presto the design was cut. My second attempt was with a calligraphy cartridge. Not so good. The fondant was torn and only the most basic letters made it out somewhat nicely. Third attempt was Nemo from the Best of Pixar. This was a complete disaster. The only shape of nemo that worked was the shadow which is the most basic of shapes. Then I had to add my own details to make it look somewhat like the character. This machine is not a timesaver. If you take the suggestions of others they will say to freeze your gumpaste or fondant. This is extremely time consuming for... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Great tool for home baker and cake decorator, October 27, 2011
This review is from: Cricut Mini Cake, Red (Misc.)
I have had my Cricut Cake mini for 2 months now and I love it. I keep finding excuses and occasions to celebrate so that can I pull out my mini to decorate cupcakes or cakes. I was apprehensive at first about buying this machine since there are many negative comments on the full sized Cricut Cake and hardly any reviews at all for the Cricut Cake Mini. I call my machine my little ladybug. It is a nice compact size that I easily store in my pantry when I am not using it. It has almost all the same features as the larger Cricut Cake and for my needs it suits me fine, I have no need to cut out large gumpaste cut-outs. I have done a lot of research to optimize the use of my "ladybug". I found some really useful youtube videos that provide great information about how thick to roll the gumpaste, letting it rest prior to cutting and so on. I have never had a problem with tearing my gumpaste. I have been successful with ciutting out detailed small images and letters without incident. I have a... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Ever, February 10, 2008
This review is from: Weston 61-0901-W Heavy Duty Food 9-Inch Slicer (Kitchen)
It's a geat meat slicer. The 9" blade makes slicing large pieces of meat a breeze. The suctions on the base keep it from moving while it's running. Also, the clean up takes minutes. Thank you Weston for a great product.

Only have had for a week sliced some deer up for jerky worked great on slightly frozen meat(makes i easier to slice that way). easy to clean up. Watch the blade when cleaning is very sharp a fillet glove would be a good idea for the hand that handles it and holds the meat. Only thing is the motor could use a little more power it got slightly warm cutting up 8 lbs of meat 1/4" wide for my jerky. I would recommend it for anyone. Have about 40 lbs of deer left to do any problems with it i will post them.

Looked all over for a slicer wasn't impressed with what I saw.
When this slicer arrived it looked very good and when I put it to work it did the job just as I wanted. Cleanup is a snap and it doesn't take up the whole counter.
Looks like the person that designed this machine had actually used one and tried to make it the best he could. For the money it is a five star machine and I am impressed.
