EdgeCraft 610 Chef's Choice Premium Electric Food Slicer

Product Description

Chef's Choice Model 610 Slicer is a premium gear driven food slicer. It has a reliable, smooth and powerful cool running high torque electric motor. It is a versatile, rugged slicer which features all structural components of cast aluminum and stainless steel. The large capacity food carriage retracts fully to permit slicing of extra large roasts, hams and other foods. The precision thickness control slices from deli-thin to approximately 1-inch thick slices. A tilted food carriage and cantilever design for fast and efficient slicing. The 7-inch multi-purpose stainless steel serrated blade, food carriage, food pusher, food deflector and thickness guide all remove for easy cleaning. Extra secure, the food carriage locks into position limiting access to the blade when the unit is not in use. Intermittent on/off switch, convenient cord storage. Fuse at the bottom of the slicer will trigger shut down in case of power surge. Slicer comes with a serving tray.

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy to use, easy to clean up, March 19, 2005

Bought the Chefs Choice 610 food slicer, then saw the Waring FS150 (similar but a Professional model with larger motor) for $30 less an hour later. Bought that one also with intent to look up reviews online and decide at home. After reading reviews (great reviews for Chefs Choice, awful reviews for the Waring) and instruction manuals on both (still can't believe you can't run the Waring for more than 10 minutes at a time and the poor design for cleanup) decided to keep the Chefs Choice. Used it to slice roast beef, swiss cheese and baked turkey breast. Worked extremely well on all and the unit is extremely easy to use. Cleanup took about 5 minutes total. Unit is a little larger than I would have liked, but all the food slicers have similar dimensions. Well worth the extra $30.

5.0 out of 5 stars educated opinion, March 20, 2005
This review is from: EdgeCraft 610 Chef's Choice Premium Electric Food Slicer (Kitchen)
I was in the restaurant equipment business for over 35 years and sold hundreds of comercial slicers such as Hobart, Globe etc. This is not a comercial machine but it thinks it is. It does a supurb job of slicing from paper thin to a thick slice of rye. I don't use it as often as I should, but it is relatively easy to clean and a great addition to any kitchen.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Food Slicer, December 25, 2004
By

This review is from: EdgeCraft 610 Chef's Choice Premium Electric Food Slicer (Kitchen)
I got my Chef Choice Model 610 food slicer a couple weeks before Christmas in anticipation of making my Christmas dinner prep easier. And what a nice addition this food slicer was. It is easy to set up, easy to use, has adequate safety features and cleans up in a jiffy. Because I wanted to use it for large ham slicing.... I did order the Ham Slicing Blade extra from the factory which cost about $30 which I used to slice my Christmas ham instead of the serrated blade that comes with the product.

This is an excellent slicer.

Chef's Choice 632 International Gourmet VariTilt Electric Food Slicer review for sale

Customer Rating :
Rating: 4.5

List Price : $400.00 Price : Too low to display
Chef's Choice 632 International Gourmet VariTilt Electric Food Slicer

Amazon.com

Designed for household use, this electric food slicer operates either upright for meats and cheeses or tilts 30 degrees to gravity-feed vegetables, fruits, and bread to the blade, making it easy to make sandwiches for the family or slice a ham or a block of cheese. The 100-watt condenser motor operates quietly and the carriage travels smoothly. The slicer's 7-inch, surgical stainless-steel blade removes for cleaning and sharpening. A calibrated thickness-adjustment knob permits slicing from paper thin to about 3/5 of an inch. A plastic tray for catching sliced food comes with the slicer. Safety features include a hidden childproof switch that prevents the slicer from turning on and an automatic on/off switch on the thickness control knob that shuts the unit off as soon as the thumb releases pressure. (The on/off switch can also be set for continuous operation.) The parts disassemble easily for cleaning. Made of rugged plastic and stainless steel, the slicer weighs 11 pounds and measures 14 inches wide, 10-1/2 inches high, and 11-1/2 inches deep. It carries a one-year warranty against defects. --Fred Brack

5.0 out of 5 stars Chef's Choice 632 Slicer, February 22, 2006

This review is from: Chef's Choice 632 International Gourmet VariTilt Electric Food Slicer (Kitchen)
Positive: Great! Great! Great! I spent weeks going over reviews and comments about electric food slicers in preparation for replacing one that I had been using for about 25 years. It was heavy, clunky and would slide around the counter when used. I only took it out to use when nothing else would work. But it did slice. After reading all that I could in the reviews, I decided that the Model 632 seemed the best fit for my use. Cooking is a hobby and not a profession so I needed nothing more than a good quality, home slicer. I decided to keep the new slicer on the counter for a while so I could try it out. I think it has found a permanent home. I find that I am using it almost every day for bread, meat, cheese and vegetables. The operation is smooth and with the caliper dial, very repeatable. It is stable and does not "walk" on the counter when slicing. It appears to be well manufactured and durable. Several reviewers pointed to the on/off and lock switches locations as... Read more

The performance of our food slicer is exceeding our expectations. It slices items like hard salami super thin without difficulty. It even works in making Beef Carpaccio with the standard blade. It had been on my wish list for years but I was afraid it would be a flimsy and dangerous tool, but the design of the carriage and the stability of the machine made my initial fears go away. The VariTilt is worth the extra price because the slices fall away from the blade instantly.

5.0 out of 5 stars A slice of life!, November 9, 2006

This review is from: Chef's Choice 632 International Gourmet VariTilt Electric Food Slicer (Kitchen)
I put-off buying a slicer like this because I had heard they were a problem to operate, lacked power and were difficult to clean. Then I saw the reviews for the Chef's Choice 632 and took the plunge. When it arrived the first thing I noticed was that the blade had a Titanium-gold coating just like my power drills which meant extra durability. The machine itself is very well made. Fit and finish is top-notch. And the tilt feature makes it easy to slice heavy items like meats ( tilted up ) and soft vegetables like tomatos ( tray down ). The slicing is prcise and effortless. I use my machine to cut baked bread into perfect 5/8" slabs or steak into paper thin slices for steak sandwiches.

Cleaning is a snap. The tray and holder are made of hard, tough plastic that repells sticking food and stains. The blade comes off with a twist and washes up quickly with soap and water. The body is also so smooth nothing sticks to it and is almost like cleaning a well waxed car- the food just... Read more
