I bought this when I started to have trouble with my meat slicer. I decided to give this a try and fortunately it has helped and I don't have to go thru the expense of buying a new meat slicer.

I'm very sensitive to chemical odors and vapors that linger for months. For example oil, gasoline, grease, WD-40 type lubricants etc. They are not good for your health either. I wanted to find a grease that was odorless and also nontoxic so did a little research and found that "Food Grade" grease was what I needed. There are a few lubrication products on the market from different manufacturers that are food grade but Amazon carried this brand so I ordered it.

I'm very happy with this product, it's odorless and since it is registered as a NSF H1 class lubricant it is very safe. I use this on some parts of my car like door hinges, power window rails/rollers, sliding cables etc. Prior to this I used a Gunk White Lithium grease which made my car smell HORRIBLE for months. Keep in mind this is a light duty grease that should not be used where very high temperatures are observed, for example disc brake parts. This grease can be used in and around the home too. It sprays on wet... Read more

This product is great for use around the house. It doesn't leave an oily or white sticky mess like other lubricants do. With this product also being food safe, I'm not as worried about the kids coming into contact with it. The product is near odorless as well which is very nice. It's a great household lubricant.

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy to use, easy to clean up, March 19, 2005
By
This review is from: EdgeCraft 610 Chef's Choice Premium Electric Food Slicer (Kitchen)
Bought the Chefs Choice 610 food slicer, then saw the Waring FS150 (similar but a Professional model with larger motor) for $30 less an hour later. Bought that one also with intent to look up reviews online and decide at home. After reading reviews (great reviews for Chefs Choice, awful reviews for the Waring) and instruction manuals on both (still can't believe you can't run the Waring for more than 10 minutes at a time and the poor design for cleanup) decided to keep the Chefs Choice. Used it to slice roast beef, swiss cheese and baked turkey breast. Worked extremely well on all and the unit is extremely easy to use. Cleanup took about 5 minutes total. Unit is a little larger than I would have liked, but all the food slicers have similar dimensions. Well worth the extra $30.

5.0 out of 5 stars educated opinion, March 20, 2005
This review is from: EdgeCraft 610 Chef's Choice Premium Electric Food Slicer (Kitchen)
I was in the restaurant equipment business for over 35 years and sold hundreds of comercial slicers such as Hobart, Globe etc. This is not a comercial machine but it thinks it is. It does a supurb job of slicing from paper thin to a thick slice of rye. I don't use it as often as I should, but it is relatively easy to clean and a great addition to any kitchen.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Food Slicer, December 25, 2004
By
PJD (Ohio,USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: EdgeCraft 610 Chef's Choice Premium Electric Food Slicer (Kitchen)
I got my Chef Choice Model 610 food slicer a couple weeks before Christmas in anticipation of making my Christmas dinner prep easier. And what a nice addition this food slicer was. It is easy to set up, easy to use, has adequate safety features and cleans up in a jiffy. Because I wanted to use it for large ham slicing.... I did order the Ham Slicing Blade extra from the factory which cost about $30 which I used to slice my Christmas ham instead of the serrated blade that comes with the product.
This is an excellent slicer.

5.0 out of 5 stars Super toy - good for learning and for fun, May 24, 2002

This was a gift from Grandma for our 18 month old. Our daughter figured out how to cut a few months later. It's perfect for age two and up. She loves to cut up all the fruits, veggies, and bread. It comes with two cutting boards and two knives so a friend can play along too. It keeps her entertained for a long time and, as others have mentioned, teaches her the names of a few fruits and veggies along the way. Everything comes in a nice wooden box with a slide-on lid, which is great for storing all the pieces and for the fun of "in and out" of the box. My only complaint is that the velcro stickers which hold the pieces together are not compeletly durable. I've reglued a few of them, which has been no big deal to do. Overall a great toy, well priced, and nicely made.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent choice, September 26, 2003

= Durability:3.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:5.0 out of 5 stars
I wanted to get my daughters some play food that wasn't plastic, and this turned out to be a gem. I have to say that the picture here doesn't do it justice -- the pieces are much more appealing in person. Originally I thought they would like one of the other 2 sets better (the pizza or the sandwich set), but after purchasing them, this is the clear favorite. These pieces are the most versatile. There is some bread, which can be fashioned into a sandwich. The veggies/fruits can be served as is or chopped up in a "stew", etc. The carrot can double for chunks of cheddar.....and on and on. We've counted pieces. We've played restaurant. And really, getting the cucumber back together so there is not a kink in the middle is almost a puzzle. There is something most satisfying about the crunching, slicing sound too.
I do agree with the other reviewer about the paint smell though (but it does go away). And the red paint started rubbing off on the knife almost immediately... Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars Lets Kids Use Their Imaginations! A Great Toy!, November 17, 2003
By A Customer
= Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:4.0 out of 5 stars
The picture above shows the OLD cuting food box that came with 2 knives and 2 cutting boards. Now it comes with 1 knife and 1 cutting board, so that this toy cannot be shared. I prefer it to have 2 boards and knives so that 2 kids can share it - otherwise fights do ensue.

But I do love this toy. My daughter received it for her 2nd birthday and still loves to play with it (she is over 3 now). One problem is that the baby loves it too (17 months) but some of the pieces (carrot) are choking hazards - hence the age warning. We moved the toy to the 3 yr old's bedroom to keep it out of reach of the baby until she is older. I did not notice a strong paint odor upon opening the toy. The toy is of quality construction - I think this toy will last forever.
