With this Item there are some pluses and some minuses. On the plus side it has a powerfull enough motor to slice chesses, which some slicers dont recommend and cleanup is a whiz. On the minus side, the material the slicer is made of drags a bit on the item sliced, sometimes making slices uneven. The grim reality of life is that meats and cheeses slide easier over plastic than they do over aluminum or steel. This problem likely exists with most slicers made of steel and aluminum, so dont discount this item becaues of this review. The easy cleanup is a good tradeoff for the functionality issues. Overall, for a slicer that I use every other week im satisfied with the purchase, but just a bit disappointed with the the function. My old plastic krupps slicer sliced thinner, although much more difficult to clean.

This slicer does a pretty good job for the home cook. We've only used it for slicing meats and it has pretty much met our expectations. We do have a couple of issues. First, the blade is not parallel with the blade guard and there doesn't seem to be any way to adjust this. It causes the slices to have a small "tag" where the meat hits the blade at the end. Also, we were surprised that the blade did not rotate faster considering the size of the motor (which was one of it's selling points). The instructions could have been much better to possibly include any adjustments that could be made such as the angle of the blade. All in all we are pleased and would recommend it for home use.

1.0 out of 5 stars A Disaster, December 30, 2008
This review is from: Nesco FS-150PR Professional 150-Watt Food Slicer (Kitchen)
I bought this product locally and, after the first slice or two was made, I was immediately disappointed. I was slicing meat and the blade did not finish the cut. Instead the slices collected at the base of the machine in the back all connected like paper dolls. There is a space between the blade and the back of the machine that allows whatever you're slicing to fall through. I continued to use it, hoping it would get better or I would catch on to some secret trick. When I took it apart for cleaning - which it does clean up easily - I noticed the casing around the blade had burned or melted or rubbed to where it was noticeably marred. Luckily the store I bought it at let me exchange it for a different type of machine altogether.
